ABOUT - This monthly exhibition Features photocopied/xerox photography from photographers around the world. what we are hoping to achieve with this project is to get photography off the Internet and get printed matter back in the the hands of the public. Photocopying is one of the cheapest ways to get photography printed, Basically we want the show to be like a giant zine that everyone can take a page from. After the first 6 shows a book will be made of all the photography from the 6 exhibitions - All photocopies will be for sale for as little as £2- £5 depending on size and the money made will go towards the making of the book.
RIOT
The Photocopy Club present: RIOT
The Photocopy Club is a bi-monthly photography exhibition based
between Brighton and London here in the UK. Since 2011 we have been
putting on open submission exhibitions where photographers submit
their work as photocopies.
We then display these works in Brighton and London galleries for one
night, with all the prints being for sale for £5. The aim is to get
photographers work off the internet and back into print, with the work
also being made affordable and accessible to the public.
For 2013 we have come together to work with photographers and
collectives around the UK. On Thursday 15th June we are putting on
for the whole weekend The Photocopy Club Riot will take place at DOOMED GALLERY London.
We are contacting photographers with a passion for documentary and journalism photography to be
involved. All you need to do is take your pictures to you local
printers. Ask for a black and white photocopy (A4 to A0) and then post
it to us at the address below.
All the work will go up and will be on sale. The money made will go
towards the hire of the venue and a RIOT zine that will
follow the exhibition.
We will also have an open wall for photographers to bring there work
down on the night to put up. This wall will be free for the public to
take what ever prints they like. The whole project is like a giant
zine that everyone can take a page from.
We would love for you to be involved by submitting work for the show
and spreading the word.
*We will not be able to get photos of the work up online as we do normally, but the event will be photographed and filmed as normal.
